Hello! My name is Laura Fiddler and I am a Middle Years Education student at the University of Regina. I grew up on a farm near Gull Lake, Saskatchewan which is where I attended school K – 12. I enjoy playing sports and exercising as well as, helping out on my farm, playing with my dog, and spending time with my family. I have always wanted to be a teacher and have over 10 teachers in my family so I guess you could say that rubbed off on me! I am passionate about creating a classroom where my students are engaged, free to be themselves, and are able to learn regardless of their differences.
I have gained experience in the classroom as a student teacher, an educational assistant, and a substitute teacher. My ECS 100 class included being placed in a grade 3/4/5 classroom at St. Katherines School in Regina which involved observing the teacher(s) as well as helping out within the classroom. I had my pre-internship at Regina Huda School which was interrupted in March 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic making it not only an enriching educational experience, but an exciting one as well! I completed my internship at Sacred Heart School in Moose Jaw, SK in the fall of 2020 and learned more than I thought possible. It was an experience like no other and largely shaped who I am today as a person and an educator. My experience as an educational assistant, substitute teacher, and homeroom teacher have all taken place at All Saints Catholic School in Swift Current, SK.
With all that being said, I am very excited to continue my educational journey and see where it takes me!
